About the Event

Immerse yourself in the unique music of Steve Reich with three percussion quartets directed by Scottish percussionist Collin Currie: the French premiere of Quartet, a joint commission by the Cité de la musique in partnership with various American and European institutions; Mallet Quartet, composed in 2009 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Hungarian quartet Amadinda; and Drumming, a work from 1971 which has become a classic.

Vocals join together with the instrumental ensemble, precisely imitating the sounds of the percussion, coloring the superposition of repeated loops, and underlining the changing motifs.
