Brahms & Ligeti Horn Trios: Musikfest Berlin

About the Event

World‐class soloists come together to performs two works for horn trio that couldn't sound more different.

Widmann composed “Air” when he was 32 years old, the same age that Brahms wrote his “Horn trio” 140 years earlier. Ligeti’s trio, composed in 1982, draws on the orchestration of this work. Schumann’s “Three Romances”, on the other hand, was already performed with violins at the premiere rather than with the oboe the composer had intended.
