Beethoven's Symphony No. 5: Gran Teatre del Liceu

About the Event

Two musical gems, the Egmont overture –inspired by Goethe's play– and the Piano Concerto No. 4, pave the way for Beethoven's Fifth Symphony.

The Fifth is an iconic work, not merely in the composer's own output but in classical music generally, and a clear incitement to artists and ordinary individuals alike to strive to overcome their difficulties.

'Beethoven was two things at the same time: the last man of the classical period and the first man of the Romantic period'- Leonard Bernstein.
