The music of the Balkans, born of ancient empires: hear a history traced by Jordi Savall, as well as the heritage of the fanfares which embody the sound of the peninsula.

The Serbian group Boban & Marko Markovic Orkestar and Fanfare Ciocárlia, from the Romanian village of Zeec Prajini, are among the most celebrated representatives of the tradition of Balkan brass fanfares. Balkan Brass Battle is the title of the 2011 album that brought the two ensembles together; witness a musical joust played out on stage!
