Francesco Cilea's interpretation of the legendary tragic actress, Adriana Lecouvreur, is a poignant melodrama, in the tradition of Mascagni, Leoncavallo, and Giordano. Combining historical fact and tragic realism, Adriana Lecouvreur evokes the noblest sentiments of real life within the illusory world of theater.
