About the event
The young generation of British music in Berlin

Daniel Harding, a great discovery, and assistant to Simon Ratlle and Claudio Abbado, steers the successful course of the Gustav Mahler Chamber Orchestra and, as its Principal Guest Conductor, takes co-responsibility for the London Symphony Orchestra. Within only a few years the young soprano singer Sally Matthews demonstrated a sovereign command of music from Baroque to the Modern Age.

The Poèmes pour Mi were to Messiaen, what the Wesendonck-Lieder were to Wagner: the preced to the apotheosis of love of the Turangalila Symphony. Bruckner's fourth responds, at once poetically and monumentally, to Wagner's romantic operas. Boulez' Livres des cordes from 1968 follows up on the Livre de quatuor from 1948 and thereby also further pursues a general preoccupation with Messiaen's musical thought of that time.

The Berliner Festspiele bring together a seemingly endless variety of arts and culture under one roof each year in Berlin. It was founded in West Berlin in 1951. Throughout the year, festivals, program series, and individual events enrich the cultural scene of the city. The festivals include performances of music, theater, dance, and literature.
