Carl Zeller's Der Vogelhändler (The Bird Seller) is one of the most popular and often performed operettas in the repertoire. This Summer the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn will produce this charming musical comedy.
Der Vogelhändler (The Bird Seller) is a comedy, set in the 18th-century Rhineland. It features two lovers, Adam, a handsome bird seller from the Tyrol and Christel, the village postmistress. They, at cross-purposes, become involved in romantic complications at the Court of the reigning Prince. A happy ending follows a series of intrigues and amusing misunderstandings.
