The Shanghai Concert Hall was founded in 1930 as "Nanjing Drama Hall". 1950 it was renamed to "Beijing Theatre" and finally in 1959 it received its current name, Shanghai Concert Hall. In order to make way for a Highway, the concert house was relocated in 2007. The Shanghai Concert Hall accommodates now over 1200 seats and was designed by the Chinese architect Fan Wen-Jiao.
