About the event 'Sounds and Visions of Caravaggio'
The concert series "Sounds and Visions of Caravaggio" combines Early Art and Music in Rome.
Enjoy a guided tour through the Doria Pamphilj Palace, one of the most prestigious Ancient Art Galleries in Rome, and an enthralling live performance in the superb ‘Sala del Trono’ (throne room). The musicians will perform on historical instruments of Caravaggio's time, which are also present in many paintings by the artist.
The Painter Caravaggio (1571-1610)
Michelangelo Merisi, known as "Caravaggio", is the most representative artist of Roman Baroque. In Doria Pamphilj Palace some of his most important paintings are exhibited, such as "Maddalena penitente" (The Penitent Magdalene) and "Fuga in Egitto" (The Flight into Egypt). The Gallery also presents a huge collection of paintings, sculptures, and artworks by world-renowned artists such as Raffaello, Tiziano, Bernini, Velazquez, and many more.
