| Venue: | Orangerie Schönbrunn, Vienna |
The Orangery Schönbrunn Vienna is the largest orangery building in the world. It serves as host for the Schönbrunn Palace Concerts.
Every evening the Schönbrunn Palace Orchestra, accompanied by renowned musicians, singers and ballet dancers, performs the most famous works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Strauss. The orchestra consists of eighteen highly talented virtuosi, having been trained in the world's best known conservatories. They have already performed in a wide variety of international orchestras and concert halls.
Since the establishment of the Schönbrunn Palace Concerts, the daily performances of the Schönbrunn Palace Orchestra play an essential role in Vienna's cultural and musical life. At the Orangery Schönbrunn, a place rich in tradition, the Schönbrunn Palace Orchestra and the Schönbrunn Chamber Ensemble perform the most beautiful tunes of the classic composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Strauss. In the first part you will listen to some of the most marvelous overtures, arias and duets from the operas of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. "Le Nozze di Figaro", "Die Zauberflöte" and "Don Giovanni" to name a few. The most popular operetta arias, waltzes and polkas of the "Walzerkoenig" Johann Strauss - from "Die Fledermaus" and "Der Zigeunerbaron" to "Donauwalzer" and the famous "Radetzkymarsch" - comprise the second part. The orchestra is accompanied by two opera singers, a soprano and a baritone, and two ballet-dancers in authentic costumes from the time of baroque.
The Orangery Schönbrunn offers the most delightful ambience for the Palace Concerts. Since the time of the Habsburgs, the Orangery was a place of musical and artistic festivities. During one of these events, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri competed in a musical contest at court, a contest still considered unique in music history. The Orangerie Schönbrunn is a unique place full of musical history, which has developed itself into a renowned cultural event location.
The Schönbrunn Palace Orchestra takes the public back to the magical world of Austrian music history. The concert program is changed daily, thus guaranteeing variety and constant quality. The large orchestra, together with ballet-dancers and singers, plays from April 1st until October 31st, as well as from December 25th until January 2nd. The small orchestra (sextette) together with ballet-dancers and singers, plays from January 3rd until March 31st, and from November 1st until December 23th.
Formal evening dress is not necessary. Please show your Classictic e-Ticket in the Orangerie building, at the entrance.
