Artists of Saint Ephrem Church: Bach Suites for Violoncello Solo

Born into a musical family in Pertuis, France, Timothée Marcel began his cello studies with his father at the age of seven. From age nine to fourteen, he traveled alone on a weekly journey between Digne-les-Bains in the south of France and Paris to continue his studies. One of the youngest cellists to be admitted to the Paris Conservatory, he graduated in 2006 with highest honors in Cello Performance and Chamber Music Studies.
In the summer of 2005, Mr. Marcel performed with the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival as a young distinguished artist. In the winter of 2006, he performed in Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C Major with the Santa Fe Symphony, to rave reviews. In France, he plays with l’Opéra National de Paris and l’Orchestre National de France and performs with the Trio Apollinaire and the Jean-Louis Florentz Cello Octet.
