About the event 'Orchestra Opera di Venezia: La Traviata'
You are invited to enjoy Giuseppe Verdi's three-act opera "La Traviata" in the unique atmosphere of Venice. The magic of this performance is enhanced by the stunning venue: "La Scuola Grande dei Carmini", adorned with works by the famous painter Tiepolo!
La Traviata is based on an Italian libretto by Francesco Maria Piave. It was first performed at the Teatro la Fenice in Venice, on March 6, 1853. The title "La Traviata" means literally "The Woman Who Strayed", or perhaps more poetically, The Lost One. This immensely popular work is the third most frequently performed opera in North America.
