About the event 'Opening Music Festival Grafenegg: Fidelio'

International opera stars come together for a concert performance of Beethoven's "Fidelio" in the Auditorium to celebrate the opening of the fourth Grafenegg Music Festival.

First and foremost among the performers are Anja Kampe, Johan Botha, Falk Struckmann and Kurt Rydl. Texts especially written for Grafenegg are read by Heribert Sasse. The operatic concert is directed by the Tonkünstler’s Music Director, Andrés Orozco-Estrada.

Only at the very end are Leonore and Florestan allowed to fall into each other’s arms – "Oh joy beyond all understanding!". Beethoven’s only opera "Fidelio" is not only a milestone in the history of the opera but at the same time a hymn to the victory of justice and true love.
