ABOUT THE EVENT
Enjoy a very special New Year's Concert with the Danube Symphony Orchestra. After the concert, you are invited to a cruise trip with a delicious dinner of traditional Hungarian and European style food.
The Danube Symphony Orchestra has a long concert tradition, dating back to 1961, and performs the most famous classical melodies.
Dinner & Cruise:
On the cruise, you will enjoy the romantic atmosphere of Budapest and an excellent warm dinner buffet - prepared by Hungary’s only one Gault Millau rated chef Klöter Gregor - surrounded by the illumination of the Danube metropolis. Danube Symphony Orchestra
, OrchestraThe Danube Symphony Orchestra was formed back in 1961. Since then, the orchstra has given many performances both in Hungary and abroad, and consists of 60 professional musicians.
Their repertoire covers almost every musical style from the Baroque music to music of the 20th century. Their permanent concert hall is the theatre of the Danube Palace. Beside the concerts, they organise both for adults and children, they regularly play at various musical events held in Budapest. They are frequent guests at the Music Academy, at the Vigadó, at the Stephanie Palace and at the Convention Centre.
They have had international contacts since 1983 and have been invited to play in many foreign countries. They have often accompanied solo artists at music competitions and participated in colourful operettas, ballets and oratorio performances as well.
Not only do the musicians work together in this orchestra but in several chamber orchestras as well. Besides their permanent conductor András Deák, they are often conducted by other Hungarian and foreign conductors. Many Hungarian and foreign guest artists have performed with the orchestra, including Giuseppe di Stefano from Italy, James Galway, a flautist from Ireland and Ray Charles, the jazz star from the USA. They have given performances in Germany, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Italy.
