About the event 'Musikfest Berlin: Ensemble Modern & Beat Furrer'

Ensemble Modern performs with composer and conductor Beat Furrer at this year's "musikfest berlin".

The "musikfest berlin 10", Berlin’s major festival for orchestral music, will once again open the city’s concert season. At the heart of this year's festival programme will be the musical oeuvres of Pierre Boulez – the great French composer and conductor, whose 85th birthday is being celebrated this year throughout the musical world – and of his Italian composer-colleague Luciano Berio.

The programme of this concert includes Boulez' "Cummings is the poet" and a concertante performance of Furrer's music theatre piece, "Begehren".
