The conductor comes to visit Grafenegg for the second time in 2010, this time with the Mariinsky Orchestra St. Petersburg. Gergiev brings along treasures from his Russian home.
Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5 is not only one of the most popular Russian symphonies, it is also inextricably linked to the atmosphere of change at the end of the Second World War. The evening continues in a fantastic and fairy-tale like manner, when Rimsky-Korsakov’s "Scheherazade" takes a seat on the stage of the Wolkenturm to tell us her story.
