About the event
The Cracow Philharmonic String Quartet presents masterpieces of Mozart's chamber music at the Fontana Hall in Cracow. In the unique atmosphere of the historical museum of Cracow, you will hear various divertimenti, serenade such as "A little night music" and string and flute quartets composed by W. A. Mozart in his 'golden years' in Vienna.
This concert series has its emphasis on Mozart string quartets which he dedicated to Joseph Haydn. Mozart wrote about these pieces that they were the fruit of long and laborious study. Joseph Haydn is considered to be the 'father' of this genre but it was W. A. Mozart that brought the string quartet to perfection.
Prof. R. Greenberg (University of California at Berkeley): "Every of these string quartets is a miracle: a miracle of technique, taste and imagination, part-writing and perfect proportions. An introduction before the concert and a glass of wine at the interval will contribute to an enjoyable evening in Cracow, one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in Poland."
