ABOUT THE EVENT

At this year's Budapest Spring Festival, you will enjoy a piano recital by Mihaela Ursuleasa.

Starting as a child prodigy and now one of the most original pianists, the Romanian artist was seventeen when winning the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition. Ten years later the reviewer of the San Francisco Chronicle claimed that “it’s the kind of Beethoven I have not heard since the heydays of Claudio Arrau and super-musician Clara Haskil herself.” She has awed audiences with spirited and technically polished playing in New York’s Carnegie Hall, Vienna’s Konzerthaus, the Cologne Philharmonie, and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw.

She has forged a close artistic friendship with cellist Sol Gabetta and violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja. Her 2010 debut album won ECHO Klassik’s “Solo Recording of the Year” award. The next CD, “Romanian Rhapsody” was released in March 2011. The artist, who was born in Brasov and studied in Austria, plays her favourite authors’ compositions at the Budapest concert.
