ABOUT THE EVENT
Enjoy a wonderful concert with great violinist Midori and conductor Vasily Petrenko alongside the OBC at the Auditori of Barcelona.
Composed in 1992 as a commission for the Conducting Competition of the Orquestra de Cadaqués, "Sortilegis" by Xavier Montsalvatge is a sophisticated and rousing work. The piece meets the needs of forcing the conductor to be aware of the numerous sound details and rhythm changes in the score and is also highly demanding for the orchestra. The result is a work of a Mediterranean character; one that is extremely attractive. One of the competition winners, Vasily Petrenko, is one of the leading conductors today and he will be leading the OBC in this concert, the very many attractions of which include young Japanese violinist Midori, a bright star who will be performing the impassioned "Concerto for Violin and Orchestra" by Johannes Brahms. With its mysterious theme used to the full by the mastery of its English composer, Elgar's "Enigma Variations" complete this enchanting programme.
Experience this richly moving programme at the Auditori in Barcelona.
