Messiaen-Cycle 2008 continues with an evening of Messiaen's music paired with Schumann.

Very few composers have made the kind of impact on Western classical music history as Robert Schumann.  He left an array of acclaimed music in virtually all forms of the time. Partly through his protégé Brahms, Schumann's ideals and musical vocabulary became widely disseminated. 

Olivier Messiaen is arguably one of the single most influential  composers of the post war 20th Century.  As a celebrated teacher young composers and musicians flocked to this highly original thinker (Xenakis, Boulez and Stockhausen among them). 

The concert compares the work of one of the Romantic's most influential musical figures to that of one of the 20th century's.
