The Oper Leipzig presents Wagner's famous opera in a new staging after the production at the Staatsoper Hamburg by Peter Konwitschny from 1998.
At King Heinrich I court, Frederick of Telramund falsely accuses Elsa of Brabant to have murdered her brother Godfrey, eire of the throne, in order to gain reign for himself. Nobody pleads Elsa for not guilty, except a stranger and Elsa is freed.
The stranger asks for Elsa's hand under the condition never to ask for his name, and she agrees. But Telramund is planning a new conspiracy...
