La Bohème
About the event 'La Bohème'
Puccini's successful opera is based on the drama Scènes de la Vie de Bohème by the French writer Henri Murger. The drama portrays the living and struggling of artists and intellectuals in the 1830ies, in Paris.
The four friends Rodolfo, Marcello, Colline and Schaunard want to celebrate Christmas in the Quatier Latin. But Rodolfo decides to stay at his attic. In the moment, he begins with his writing, it knocks on his door; Mimi, his consumptive neighbour, asks for some light for her candle. When she wants to leave, Mimi realises that she has lost her key. Rodolfo hides the key in order to get to know her better. Hence, they fall in love and talk about their lives for hours...
