ABOUT THE EVENT

The OBC will perform works by Casasblancas and Shostakovich, under the baton of Josep Pons, in this wonderful concert at the Auditori of Barcelona.

In 2007, Benet Casablancas premiered Alter Klang's “Impromptu for orchestra after Klee”, inspired by a painting by Swiss artist Paul Klee. The colourful and suggestive piece by Casablancas is a negative of Klee's work: in other words, his personal timbric representation of colours, in a synaesthetic combination that the painter himself developed throughout his unique and enriching work.

The great contemporary repertoire expert Josep Pons will be conducting the OBC at this concert which includes the Symphony no. 8 by Dmitri Shostakovich. This large-scale work conveys the human internal drama regarding the barbarity of war. According to the composer, his aim was to represent "the anguish, suffering, courage and happiness of men", making it one of the favourite pieces of his repertoire.
