About 'Chiesa di Santo Stefano al Ponte Vecchio '
In the heart of Florence, just close to the Ponte Vecchio, stands the church of S. Stefano al Ponte, a prestigiouse venue,one of the oldest churches of Florence, including the first reports date back to 1116. Architectural styles according to the canons which the church was built are Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque, the lower part of the facade dating back to 1233, characterized by a portal of white and green marble from Prato and two doors surmounted by small lancet windows, is Romanesque style, while the upper part was rebuilt during the Gothic renewal. The interior was renovated in the Baroque period, it is full of stunning works of art, including the beautiful staircase of Buontalenti, with a marble balustrade, builted in 1574. in the different marble altars (centuries XVI and XIX) are numerous paintings, crucifixes and paintings dating from the Renaissance period. The wonderful acoustics of the church, its location in the historic center of Florence and its beautifully decorated interior, make this place unique opportunity to experience the memorable union between Art, Architecture and Music
