The Budapest Spring Festival 2010 presents highlights of Ferenc Erkel's opera "Dózsa György" at the Hungarian State Opera House.
The opera, composed in 1867 and based on a tragic play by Mór Jókai, was last seen in Budapest in 1994. Dózsa György is perhaps the most malleable of Erkel’s compositions – and as a result it leaves open countless possibilities for its production.
