ABOUT THE EVENT

The spectacular percussionist Evelyn Glennie will perform with the Hungarian Symphony Orchestra at the Budapest Spring Festival 2010.

Evelyn Glennie was born in the Scottish city of Aberdeen. She gives over 100 concerts a year, performing many works written for her, and she herself is also a recognised composer. Since the age of 12 she has struggled to cope with a serious hearing impairment, and thanks to her will-power and talent she never for a moment turned her back on her vocation, music. She has appeared and made recordings with famous pop, rock and classical musicians, including Björk, Bobby McFerrin, Steve Hackett and the King’s Singers. She has received many prizes, but her most treasured possession is her continuously expanding collection of over 1800 percussion instruments.

The appearance in Budapest of this exceptionally versatile artist is one of the surprise highlights of the Spring Festival.
