About the event
Compositional approximations of Istanbul, Dubai, Johannesburg and the Pearl River Delta with the Ensemble Modern. With the boom of the ‘Mega-City’, more than half of the world’s population is now living in cities such as Cairo, Mexico-City or Jakarta.
In an attempt to more closely examine these dynamic environments the Ensemble Modern has invited composers to take part in their project "into...". For this special project, four composers are going to live and work/compose for four weeks in Istanbul, Dubai, Johannesburg and the Pearl River Delta. Their creations, compositional approximations of each city, will be performed at the Konzerthaus Berlin.
