Chilcott Requiem & Beethoven Mass in C
ABOUT THE EVENT
Nicholas Cleobury conducts the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Oxford Bach Choir and excellent soloists in London's Cadogan Hall.
Beethoven's Mass in C is a beautiful and outgoing work, stirring and contemplative, offering hope and consolation. Bob Chilcott has composed a modern and accessible counterpart, taking texts from the traditional Requiem and from the Book of Common Prayer. In this reflective and uplifting work for soloists, chorus and orchestra, Chilcott uses the same scoring as did Beethoven, and should beguile and inspire listeners.
Enjoy two wonderful choral compositions separated by two centuries.
Meet the artists, free pre-concert talk from 6.30pm presented by Edward Seckerson.
Soloists:
Soprano - Elizabeth Atherton
Mezzo-Soprano - Wendy Dawn Thompson
Tenor - Andrew Kennedy
Baritone - Derek Welton
