Chamber Orchestra of Europe
ABOUT THE EVENT
The Chamber Orchestra of Europe is joined by violin soloist Elisabeth Batiashvili and conducted by the star Finnish director Sakari Oramo.
When Elisabeth Batiashvili was just 22 years of age, Alfred Brendel said of the Georgian violinist that "every one of her notes both sang and spoke, proving once again that the great violinists emerge very young." A graceful musician who can make her instrument sing, armed moreover with the Engleman Stradivarius (1709): ideal for Prokofiev's First Concerto, which, along with Alban Berg's Violin Concerto "To the Memory of an Angel", represents the greatest heights reached by the genre in the 20th century.
The Chamber Orchestra of Europe is under the baton of Sakari Oramo, yet another brilliant Finnish orchestral conductor from the school of Jorma Panula.
