ABOUT THE EVENT

Enjoy a romantic journey back to the Seville of 1830, with the Ballet Flamenco de Madrid performing a choreographic interpretation of Bizet's "Carmen".

Carmen is not the story of a femme fatale, a diabolic, presumptuous, and seductive woman. Carmen symbolises a woman who passionately responds to the challenges of her time. The great choreographer, Sara Lezana, directs 25 dancers and musicians, with Erika Macías Leal in the main role.

Artists of Carmen, Georges Bizet

Erika Macías

, Soloist
She was born in Madrid in 1987. With only 3 and a half years she was student of the academy of dance “Nuria Montes” and since then she has not stopped dancing until becoming the first dancer of the Ballet Flamenco de Madrid.
When she was 5 years old, she attended to the academy “Kompás” where she studied Flamenco and Spanish Dance.
She studied claquet with John O'Brien, she made courses with Eva Yerbabuena and Soraya Clavijo and took classes with Kelian.
In 2006 she became first dancer of the Ballet Flamenco de Madrid, directed by Luciano Ruiz and Sara Lezana as choreographer.
She has danced with the same ballet in Italy, Latvia, Estonia, Ukraina, Russia and Portugal.

Sara Lezana

, Soloist
First figure of the Spanish and international scene as bailaora and actress.
When she is 12 years old, she makes her debut  in the Teatro Valle Inclán of Madrid with the History of the “Taranto” by Alfredo Mañas, and when she is 14 she plays in the film "Taranto”  by Rovira Beleta with the unforgettable Carmen Amaya.
She creates her own dance company in 1968 and tours all over the world, playing for the first time in Japan, where she obtains several awards. In 1974 she and her company visit the United States and Canada for the first time. In 1975 the company tours in South America and in 1976 all around Europe.
In 1982 she starts her career as flamenco professor in Spain and abroad.
Currently she is focused in her work as Choreographer and as special guest of the Ballet Flamenco de Madrid.
