About 'Biblioteca del Centro San Domenico'

During the Middle Ages, one of the four major universities of Europe was in Bologna. While Oxford was famous for science, Paris for philosophy and theology, Montpellier for medicine, Bologna was considered excellent for law. Saint Dominic decided in 1218 to built a priory in Bologna, that would partecipate in the religious, intellectual and cultural life of the city. The library is part of this building.
