ABOUT THE EVENT
The Volksoper Vienna presents "Carmen" - Bizet's masterful opera about love, passion, jealousy and death!
The opera is set in Spanish Seville, where the beautiful and fiery gypsy Carmen falls in love with Don José and woos the young soldier. Their relationship leads him to reject his fiancée, revolt against his superior, turn to a criminal life, and ultimately, out of jealousy, murder Carmen herself. Although he is briefly happy with Carmen, he falls into madness when she rejects him for the bullfighter Escamillo.
"Carmen" is an opera by French composer Georges Bizet, based on the story by Porsper Merimée. The libretto was written by Meilhac and Halévy. The Volksoper Vienna presents Bizet's opera in German in a stage production full of passion - a playful, yet serious story about love!
