ABOUT THE EVENT

The Budapest Spring Festival presents "Another Evening: Serenade / The Proposition", a dance performance created by choreographer Bill T. Jones and danced by the Arnie Zane Dance Company.

Janet Wong’s video composition helps to recall or fill gaps in our knowledge of history. The very original music blending classical and folk music is performed by Chris Lancaster (electric cello), Jerome Begin /Juilliard School/ (piano) and Lisa Komara (soprano). A set representing the historical period is by Bjorn Amelan, the costumes by Liz Prince. Together with the excellent dancers, actor Jamyl Dobson also has a part in the performance. The lighting is the work of Robert Wierzel, and Sam Crawford is responsible for the sound.

“Mr. Jones’s choreography flows through this dance-theater edifice like water finding its way through a winding stone wall. Formal and often understated, phrases full of scything limbs, dipping torsos and elegantly minimal partnering periodically assemble into tableaus reminiscent of daguerreotype portraits.” – Claudia La Rocco, The New York Times, July 14, 2008
