About the event
Enjoy highlights of Berliner Baroque and Classical music in an atmosphere evoking the period.Charlottenburg Palace, the magnificent summer residence of the Prussian kings, has been a center for artistic activities since its history began. This new series of concerts, performed in the palace's Great Orangery, offers an opportunity to Berliners and visitors from abroad to hear Baroque and Classical music from Berlin in an atmosphere like that of the period. The members of the orchestra and the staff will be dressed in baroque costumes and the program will be performed by candlelight.
The Berlin Residence Orchestra is gathered exclusively for the Charlottenburg Palace concert series. Its members are professional and renowned musicians from Berlin who have a particular understanding of and love for the music of the late Baroque and Classical eras. They are committed to broadening modern audiences appreciation of the music of this historical time.
Program:
The program offers musical high points from the 17th and 18th centuries. Represented composers range from Johann Sebastian Bach to Queen Sophie Charlotte (after whom the palace was named and who was a gifted composer herself); from King Frederic the Great and his court musician Luigi Boccherini to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
