Ziehrer, Carl Michael:
"Die drei Wünsche"

The master of the silver era of the operetta!

Carl Michael Ziehrer was born in 1843 in Vienna and died 1922 there. He was the Bandmaster of the "Deutchmeister", composer of many operettas and the last "k. u. k." musical director of the court ball. In the era of the waltz and the operetta he composed more than 600 pieces of popular music. His most famous operetta is "Die Landstreicher" (the vagavonds) and unforgotten until today. After the end of the "k. u. k." monarchy he died almost forgotten in poverness.

It's fascinating to consider that such a bitter rivalry would exist between Ziehrer and the Strauss family and it was all about the creation of some of the most tuneful, entertaining music ever written!
