Pyotr Tchaikovsky's beautiful and mystic opera in three acts will be performed at the Estonian National Opera in Russian with Estonian subtitles. The libretto of the opera "Pique Dame" (The Queen of Spades) is based on Pushkin's great short story.

Lisa and Herman are in love - but the girl is obliged to marry Count Yeletsky. Besides, Herman is obsessed with the gambling table and wants Lisa's grandmother and old Countess, called the Queen of Spades, to unveil him the secret of three magical cards - so he could win all card gambling games. Herman threats the Queen of Spades with a gun and the old countess dies of an heart attack - the Countess' ghost unveils the secret ...
