Music Summer: EUYO, Rysanov, Davis
演出简介
At this year's Grafenegg Music Summer, the European Union Youth Orchestra and Maxim Rysanov (viola) perform works by Tchaikovsky, Janacek and Berlioz, under the baton of Sir Colin Davis .
Composers have always loved to set fantastic stories to music. The excellent line-up of the European Union Youth Orchestra, which once again takes up summer residence in Grafenegg in 2010, brings three storytelling highlights to the stage of the Wolkenturm: following a High Romantic introduction with the "Romeo und Juliet" overture by Tchaikovsky is Leoš Janáček’s Rhapsody "Taras Bulba", based on the novel of the same name by Gogol.
The second part of the evening features "Harold in Italy" by Hector Berlioz – a symphony with an extensive part for solo viola, played by viola virtuoso Maxim Rysanow. The musical direction is in the capable hands of Sir Colin Davis, who will be performing in Grafenegg for the third time.
