"Listening to Parch is not always pleasant," wrote the Italian composer Salvatore Sciarrino. "His music is permeated by an inhuman sadness, stubborn and unbending like the social rejection that marked his life."

Specially for Ictus, Tim Mariën has reworked The Wayward, a cycle of songs that emerged out of Partch's hobo-like wanderings in the US of the Great Depression. The concert also features the premiere of a new work - in the same spirit - by Mariën.
