The Signum Quartet was founded in 1994 and has subsequently distinguished itself as one of the leading German quartets of its generation.

In 2000, the Signum Quartet was awarded a scholarship by the Deutscher Musikrat and received the Special Award of the Rheingau Musikfestival. The Signum Quartet holds honours from the Paolo Borciani (2008) and the London International String Quartet Competition (2009), where it was also awarded the audience prize.
